Default Costume Brawl - Can't wait!

Halloween is coming up soon. With Halloween, comes Costume Brawl. Arguably the best minigame (for me) in Guild Wars. Is it just me or are you super excited for Costume Brawl?

Discuss all your costume brawl hype and hopes.

Hopefully they actually re-balance it this year. Could you imagine if it's the same? Bleh.

EDIT: By "bleh" I mean, Mel's Shot, Slot Hunter's Shot, Tiger Stance (LOL), Healing Breeze, Bane Signet, Overload, Energy Burn, Hidden Caltrops, 20 second spike for the sins (......), basically all of the Paragon build, and the lol e-management derv build.

Yes, I am SUPER psyched for this. Seems like I'll actually get to play some gw this month.

Hope it's pretty much the same as last year. I disagree with all the stuff mentioned in the post above being bleh. Don't let the power creep consume my precious CB as well.

The power creep WILL consume it if they don't re-balance. Everyone (smart enough) will just run Necros and Rits and completely butt-rape the arena.

It happened a lot last year, it's bound to happen this year.

I'll just hop on the ranger and own all the necros and rits? I remember rits being really powerful but can't say the same about the necros.

The war bar was ok, but could have been a little stronger. The sin and derv bars were just as they should be. The para bar needs serious buffing. I found the whole thing very balanced and enjoyable.

.....seriously?

How do you plan on fighting Necros and Rits with your Mel Shot ranger build?

1) Necros had Faintheartedness and Insidious....so good luck attacking.
2) Necros had FF and Plague Sig...so all your conditions are lolenergyfood and then sent right back to you.
3) Rits had WoW...so have fun getting blocked.

And the war bar? It had Tiger Stance....I mean, sweet Yahweh man. That's awful.

The sin bar had a 20 second recharging spike that could only kill if there were no healers (which there always were because everyone was running Rits).

The derv's bar was too expensive. You could spam WS every once in a while but the Necros would just go loldervs and send the conditions right back to you.

However, you're right about the Para build. It was terrible.

Rits and Necros were sooooooooooooo OP last year comparatively. It was all half the people ran.

Being good at interrupting. Admittedly the overpoweredness of the ranger template was limited by the player's skill. But you saw alot more of them going out of the international districts and enough of them playing effectively.

LOL at people bashing healing breeze in this environment.

It's Costume Brawl....good interrupters were few and VERY far between.

The Necro and Rit bars required nothing more than the IQ of the average 2 month old to run. Pretty easy stuff....and in costume brawl....that made it OP.

Just because some bars weren't true copies from wiki does not mean they were not balanced relative to each other. It wasn't 100% balanced, but I thought pretty close. Monks brought smite hex for those lame hexes and even though I'm a bad ranger it's not like I have a big problem dshotting plague sig and 1s casts. Let's face it the majority won't fake cast plague signet in CB. Tiger stance is good. If you introduced primal rage/rush wars would dominate and it would be pretty boring. I favor the idea of having bars in CB being weaker than what you find in the common meta. Keeps it fresh and interesting.

Here, I'm adding a scale to show you how I thought the professions were balanced against each other in the previous CB: (1-10, 5 being the most balanced)

War: 4
Der: 4
Sin: 4
Par: 3
Ran: 7 then, 6 now with the mel nerf
Ele: 6
Mes: 5
Nec: 5
Mon: 5
Rit: 8

Only paras and rits standing out IMO.

Necros really weren't balanced, but hey, that's just my opinion.

I don't remember necros being all that dangerous last year, and I mostly played the sin so they should have been all over me. They didn't do that much damage or that much debuffing to make them that powerful. I don't think things die enough either for them keep their energy going, or am I wrong?

Rits were pretty crazy though...

I'm in the process of identifying all of the tests, quizzes, long and short-term assignments that I may have during the time that it's open so that I don't get screwed with tons of work like I did last event.

Also, I'm hopefully going out to buy a microphone so that I can be a better participant with my syncing friends.

It will be interesting to see what bars they cook up for us this year. I'm also curious whether they'll change the disguises, but since they left those as a constant last time, I don't expect them to be changed. I hope that the Gamer point rewards stay as good as they were last season.

Super psyched. I want to know when it starts.

D-Shot on Faintheartedness and Savage on IP. D-Shot on WoW recasts, ignoring the blocking and hoping it shoots true. Not that difficult, considering a lot of the people you may come against in the arena like to cast on recharge.
